Orpheum Theatre

Orpheum Theatre, San Francisco, is a theatre for the performing arts and has been the hottest spot for entertainment in the Bay Area since 1926! Run by SHN, a theatrical producing company owned by Tony Award-winning producer Carole Shorenstein Hays and partner Robert Nederlander.

The Orpheum Theatre is an integral part of San Francisco’s famous culture and heritage. The stunning theater is a designated San Francisco landmark, featuring remarkable French-cathedral-inspired architecture. It hosts touring productions of Broadway shows and is located in the Civic Center district.

The venue is one of San Francisco’s many cultural wonders, along with the Palace of Fine Arts, the Castro Theatre, the San Francisco War Memorial, and Performing Arts Center. The Orpheum Theatre is the place in San Francisco to catch the most popular Broadway shows and musicals, including The Lion King and Mamma Mia.

Originally known as the Pantages Theatre, the Orpheum is located in the Civic Center district of San Francisco. Boasting a state-of-the-art sound system, top-tier lighting equipment, and jaw-dropping Beaux-Arts design, it’s no surprise that the Orpheum Theatre stands tall as the hottest spot for entertainment in the Bay Area! The venue hosts not only the hottest musicals and plays, but also features world premieres, pre-Broadway engagements, limited West Coast-only runs of productions that star the original Broadway casts, and national tours!

Since its grand opening in the Roaring Twenties, it’s welcomed some of the best acts in the entertainment industry and thousands of theatergoers every opening night. From the best musicals and plays around right through to world premieres and national tours, the Orpheum Theatre has got it all! The venue has set the stage for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical “The Phantom of the Opera,” Disney’s spectacular production of “The Lion King,” and Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical “Rent” – just to name a few! The theatre has also played host to many music concerts and comedians over the years, with incredible performers gracing the stage, including: Grateful Dead, Tom Waits, Tori Amos, Harry Connick Jr., Eddie Izzard, James Taylor, The Moody Blues, Tina Fey, David Byrne, St Vincent, Diana Ross and many, many more!
