Kicking off in the second week of September in Providence, Rhode Island, the show’s national tour will follow up with 30 more city stops, including this one in San Francisco, California.

It’s not all glitz and glamor for our charming diva. With fame comes ceaseless attention, most notably that of dashing entrepreneur Nick Arstein. How will Fanny reconcile marriage with her soaring celebrity status? Will she crumble beneath her husband’s wayward envy? Or will she come out on top, an empowered legend for wide-eyed aspirants?
Funny Girl explores the greatest highs and deepest lows of one of America’s brightest stars in this semi-biographical tale of showbiz prestige, marital sorrows, and unyielding ambition.
The musical will run for approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes, plus a 15-minute short intermission to stretch your legs.

“Yes, what Mrs. Brice says about him is true. “He’s always been a crook.” That’s who he’s always been, and Fanny just doesn’t want to see it because she was so smitten. I also think he genuinely falls for her and is really in love with Fanny. So he’s kind of caught between a rock and a hard place because he wants to be there for her, but he also can’t fight what his true nature is,” director Michael Mayer said in a discussion about the character Nick Arnstein.
Featuring Jule Styne and Bob Merrill’s classic score, Funny Girl brings back bonafide fan-favorite hits such as “I’m the Greatest Star,” “People,” and “Don’t Rain On My Parade.”
The production will also showcase direction from Tony Award-winner Micheal Mayer, a revised book based on Isobel Lenart’s iconic original by Harvey Fierstein, and two-way choreography by theatrical dance masters Ellenore Scott and Ayodele Casel.
