Hamilton at Orpheum Theatre San Francisco

Show producer Lin-Manuel Miranda, fresh off his success from his previous Broadway show, In the Heights, conceptualized Hamilton for a few years before it premiered in the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2015. It was in this first run that Miranda also played the lead role. The entire show, including its stellar cast and breathtaking score received extremely regarded feedback from both critics and new fans alike.

Hamilton, as most know, is a historical tale based off one of the Countries Founding Fathers, but the production takes a new and modern approach, as seen in the music styles used and especially in its diverse casting. Also, the 70th Tony Awards, where the show bagged 11 out of 16 nominations, is a display of its success. the Musical’s first cast included the actors, Philippa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr., and Jonathan Groff. Thomas Kail for Best Direction, Andy Blankenbuehler for Best Choreography, Alex Lacamoire for Best Orchestrations, Howell Binkley for Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Paul Tazewell for Best Costume Design of a Musical, and of course Lin-Manuel Miranda himself for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, all stole the show at the 70th Tony Awards. Above all and unsurprisingly, Hamilton also took home Best Musical for the year. The present cast and production crew in each new entertainment venue where the production is put on brings the same grit and enthusiasm in their performances, with favorable reviews maintained consistently.

The production’s global rise to fame led to opening many doors all over the world for audiences to experience Hamilton. It has continued for the past decade to perform not just in the U.S., but also across the pond in the U.K. and in numerous entertainment venues across Asia. Hamilton’s limited season will be making its way to San Francisco throughout January (and on Saturday 4th January 2025) at Orpheum Theatre, selling out at one more world-class stage with the favorite facilities and sound engineering that could surpass even Broadway and West End theaters.
