The original cast, comprising Christine Chenoweth and Idina Menzel gained worldwide acclaim for their phenomenal performances. Both actresses are now reverred as two of the most influential stage actresses alive. 

Originally premiering in 2003, this Broadway epic had a trial run in San Francisco. The production was led by Tony Award winning director Joe Mantello with choreography by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento. Besides these two Broadway giants, the original production also brought in Eugene Lee as scenic designer, Kenneth Posner as lighting designer, Susan Hilferty as costume designer, Tony Meola as sound designer, and tons more industry heavyweights. By 2016, the production had earned a total of 1 billion dollars in gross sales, making it one of the highest grossing Broadway epics of all time.
