Back To The Future – Theatrical Production at Orpheum Theatre San Francisco

Transporting viewers straight back to the 1900s, precisely in the 50s and 80s, The stage adaptation, Back To The Future, features the same narrative from the original 80s movie and was also conceptualized from scratch by the previous picture's makers, Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. The high-activity and colorfully loud play tells the tale of Marty McFly, a fearless boy who is sent back in time.

The story is set in motion as our main character lives a regular routine in a young adult's life, participating in clubs (specifically in Marty's music group) and spending time with his girlfriend, Jennifer, all while continuously being quite curious of everything he encounters. His curiosity ends up as Marty's distinct liability, as upon making contact with Doc Brown on a fateful evening, Brown announces that has succeeded in making his transtemporal device (which in truth, is the DeLorean) work. An unexpected event that happens on that night forces Marty to unknowingly use the device, shocking him and moving him back in time to 1955. Initially confused with the different changes he starts seeing, Marty McFly eventually figures out that to correct his accident and secure his future, he needs to also drive the past, and his mother and father who have yet to fall in love, back on target.

Founded on elements from the feature film with the same title, each set of Back To The Future is represented as a homage to the locations from the movie, including Hill Valley High School, Doc’s lab, the McFly’s house, and several sets in the Hill Valley community. Both the stage and clothing creations also accurately depict the two different time periods. Back To The Future’s move to the live stage allowed it to showcase one of the premier franchises that has been produced, while applying adjustments and improvements made possible in a live theater production.

Even if Back To The Future The Musical brings its viewers on a trip down memory lane back to two unique decades of the 20th century, the venue for this show is everything but dated.
